Church Architecture
Early concept sketches of new church and pastoral facility for the parish of St Francis of Assisi in Christchurch. A traditional church arrangement was requested with particular reference to the Franciscan tradition. The design includes a processional layering of spaces from exterior courtyards and cloistered garden areas into the church narthex, baptismal area, nave and clearly defined sanctuary. The church would be naturally acoustic and include a fresh air heating and cooling system, with seating for 450 people, and also include Green Star sustainable design features.
